Albert Coutures was a young man of twenty in 1865, when he was recorded by Moens as the owner, at the time of their discovery, of the first two Post Office stamps known. A businessman in Bordeaux, he famously exchanged two Montevideo stamps with Madame Borchard for her two Post Office stamps.
