- Summary
Friedrich Breitfuss, a life long stamp collector, enjoyed a well-deserved reputation as one of Russia's greatest philatelists, and shared his knowledge through writings in the philatelic literature, and through judging at competitions. According to Charles J. Phillips, at the time Breitfuss sold his collection, in 1907, it was 'the third finest and most complete general collection in the world'. Some time between 1899 and 1907, Breitfuss acquired a used one penny Post Office.
